If you need help with your research into genealogy or your family history then there are a range of options available.

You can locate the services of fully qualified genealogists first by heading to the website of either the Register of Qualified Genealogists (https://www.qualifiedgenealogists.org ) > or the Association of Genealogists Researching in Archives (https://www.agra.org.uk/ ), and searching the individual directories by relevant geography and/or specialism (e.g. military research).

If your research needs include armigerous ancestors (i.e. individuals entitled to bear coats of arms), you may wish to consider the services of the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies (www.ihgs.ac.uk) which offers expertise in heraldry as well as general family history research.

If you are trying to progress your research without hiring the services of a professional genealogist, alternative sources of support and information may be found from local archives (e.g. record offices, libraries and museums), family history societies and the providers of monthly journals/magazines such as ‘Who Do You Think You Are?’ and ‘Family Tree Magazine’ (other publications are available!).’
