YORK, See of. Gules, two keys in saltire, wards upwards, argent, in chief the imperial crown or. Ancient arms — Azure, a crosier in pale or, surmounted of a pall argent fringed and ensigned with five crosses pattee fitchce of the second.

The coat now in use dates back to 1397-8, but the crown was formerly the papal tiara.
