The former Kings of Poland bore quarterly, I and 4 gules, an eagle displayed argent, beaked, membered, and crowned or (Poland), 2 and 3 gules, a cavalier completely accoutred in armour, on a horse in full speed argent, in his dexter hand a drawn sword, on the sinister arm a shield azure, thereon a patriarchal cross argent (for Lithuania), over all, an escocheon of pretence per fesse sable and argent, two swords in saltire, their points in chief gules, hilts and pommels or, impaling Saxony. Crest — On an imperial crown, an eagle displa)'ed as in the arms, the shield encompassed with the ensigns of the order of the White Eagle.
