CANTERBURY, Archbishopric of. Azure, the cross-staff of an Archbishop in pale or surmounted of a pall proper.

In the case of Canterbury the pall is always depicted as charged with four crosses pat^e fitchee at the foot. These arms first appear on the seal of Archbishop Simon Islip, 1349- 1366.
