Notes
The most prominent spiritual authority in LaFrance, La Valliere was the man sent by the Pope to represent and guide the large community of Lafrancian clergy that refused to accept the Emperor's right to directly elect prince-bishops. Ideologist of the papal faction, he gained the support of several monastic orders with strong roots in the territory, such as the Dominicans. He spent much effort in contrasting the spread of heresy at the borders between Lafrance and Reitermark, often an easy bait for Reitermark noblemen to stand against their Lafrancian rivals and to gain control on the wealth of Lafrancian church.
