The pelican in piety in dexter is a symbol of Christ's sacrifice for His people The azure fleur-de-lis on an or background is a common symbol of Marian devotion, in colors usually used in paraments for Marian solemnities The Pall ordinary is a reference to the archiepiscopal pallium, due to the fictional patriarch's status as an archbishop. Common patriarchal ornaments were chosen, even if Patriarch's of Jerusalem are usually made cardinals
