Notes
The color red represents the planet and Roman god Mars, the latter of whom is the source of the names Martin and Marceau. The wavy line evokes a river or a boundary between the living and dead, commemorating Mr. Marceau's two near-death experiences. Gold recalls the memory of a general wearing a golden bar whose words are used as the motto. The alphyn's name once referred to a chess piece representing a judge (now the bishop), alluding to Mr. Marceau's occupation; its leonine features symbolize conviction in words and actions, whereas its lupine features symbolize loyalty and leadership. The snake represents rebirth, and the eagle vision. -Ae1
